The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman

For fans of The Magicians and King Arthur, The Bright Sword gives us a world familiar and at the same time so different straight from the imaginations of Lev Grossman and every other Arthurian legend fanatic. It's a thick book but I found myself lost in the story despite the weight of carrying around a 673 page novel. Familiar characters like Guinevere, Merlin, Lancelot, and King Arthur himself seem to come into themselves and are perhaps sometimes shocking but to me they just make sense.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

Ah, this book was a lovely breath of fresh air in the crazy world we live in. In a distant solarpunk future a tea monk (something between a barista and a therapist) sets out on an adventure to hear wild crickets chirping and along the way meets a "wild-built" robot and together they travel and teach the other about different ways of thinking and life. It's beautiful and charming with low stakes and only about 160 pages, the perfect brain candy novel.
