Quicksilver by Calli Hart

This book is a fast-paced, immersive fantasy that is a great and deadly world to fall into. Calli Heart builds such a vivid setting full of intrigue that I'm excited to dive even deeper into its political landscape as the series unfolds. The magic system in particular is compelling in that it uses familiar foundations but adds enough unique twists to feel genuinely fresh and intriguing, even to the seasoned fantasy reader. The two main characters, Saeris and Kingfisher, are incredibly easy to root for. With high stakes, heartfelt moments, and a world that pulls you in from the first page, Quicksilver is absolutely worth the plunge.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson

I almost skipped this book-the premise felt heavy, and I knew I'd get attached to the main character. But I love Holly Jackson's writing, so I took the plunge. And I'm so glad I did! Jet, the main character, survives a brutal Halloween-night attack only to learn she has a week to live unless she undergoes a risky surgery. Instead, she uses her final days to try to solve her own murder. She is often darkly funny throughout the book, which just made me love her even more. This book is full of grief and hope all at once. It's a murder mystery and a story about finding yourself all in one.

Dexter: Original Sin (TV Show)

Being a lifelong fan of Dexter, I will say that when I first heard they were making a prequel series, I was skeptical. But the moment Dexter: Original Sin came out on DVD, I watched it. The show is stylishly back into the world of Dexter and really shines light on his beginnings-what those early years with Harry were actually like. The tone hits exactly what longtime fans hope for: morally gray, tense, weirdly addictive; it's classic Dexter, yet with enough freshness and heart to stand on its own. Be it that you've loved the franchise for years or are just stepping into it, Dexter: Original Sin offers a thrilling, ingenious, exciting new chapter. It pays respect to what has come before while giving us something new to tumble into.

Park Predators (Podcast)

As a definite true-crime junkie — books, shows, podcasts, anything I can get my hands on. Park Predators immediately stood out, and honestly, it hit a little close to home. The entire podcast focuses on crimes that happen in state and national parks, the same places many of us go to hike, camp, or just escape into nature… which I tend to do a lot. If you love true-crime storytelling that’s thoughtful, immersive, and just unsettling enough to make you think twice on your next hike, Park Predators is absolutely worth the listen.
